Research visit KU Leuven – GiMM

PhD researcher Karolina Zofia Dąbrowska (Multicellular System Dynamics lab, KU Leuven) has just completed a short research stay at the Biomembranes & Nanomedicine Unit, an important partner in the SynEry project, led by Prof. Nuno C. Santos at the Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine (GIMM) in Lisbon, Portugal.

Under the supervision of Prof. Filomena Carvalho and Dr. Catarina de Sousa Lopes, Karolina received hands-on training with the Lab’s advanced Bio-AFM systems, with a particular focus on AFM-based cell adhesion measurements and cell imaging. This stay is an important step forward in building the AFM expertise at KU Leuven, which is of major importance for SynEry to measure the mechanics of our synthetic erythrocytes.
