Prof. Xevi Casadevall i Solvas and PhD researcher Willemien Gosselé (MeBioS, KU Leuven) attended last week’s 19th International Symposium on Blood Subsitutes hosted by the University of Maryland, in National Harbor🩸🩸🩸It was, to say the least, impressive and inspiring to hear trauma surgeons, military medics and engineers relate their experiences as to why substitutes to conventional blood donations are crucial and their efforts towards that goal. We learned a lót on what is required to make our own project SynEry clinically relevant and translatable 💉
Moreover, we had the honour to present our research and it was encouraging to see the interest of great minds sparked by our unique approach of developing synthetic red blood cells.
